About
An honest, independent passport photo tool.
GetShot Passport helps you check, crop and size passport and visa photos against each country's published requirements — entirely in your browser. It is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any government agency. Final acceptance of any photo is always decided by the issuing authority.

What GetShot Passport is
GetShot Passport is a browser-based utility for preparing document photos. You choose the issuing country, add a clear photo of yourself, and the tool crops and sizes it to that country’s published dimensions, then exports a print-ready file and a 4×6 print sheet.
The whole workflow runs on your device. Your photo is never uploaded to a server, and no account is required to use the core tool.
Independent, not a government service
We are not a passport office, embassy, visa centre or any other government body, and we do not process, submit or decide applications. We summarise official requirements for convenience and link to the issuing authority so you can confirm the current rules yourself.
How we source and verify rules
- Each country’s size, background, head-height and recency rules are drawn from the issuing authority’s published guidance.
- Countries whose rules we have checked against a named official source and human-reviewed are marked as verified and are indexable. Countries we have not yet confirmed fall back to the ICAO 9303 baseline and are kept out of search until they are verified.
- Where an authority forbids software or AI editing (for example the US, UK, Canada and Australia), the tool disables background replacement and retouching for that country, and pages for in-person-only countries (such as Canada) do not offer upload, cropping, export or printing at all.
What the tool can and cannot do
- It can: check face position, crop and size to the official dimensions, prepare a print-ready 300 DPI file, and — only where the authority permits — replace a plain background on-device.
- It cannot: change your appearance, guarantee acceptance, or edit photos in ways an authority prohibits. Cropping and sizing never stretch, distort or retouch the person.
Keeping information current
Government requirements change. When we learn that an official rule has changed, we update the affected country data and the content date together. If you spot something out of date, please tell us via the contact page and we will recheck it against the official source.
Editorial methodology
Our guides are written and maintained by the GetShot Passport editorial team against official government sources. We do not invent statistics, rejection rates or expert credentials. Any guide undergoing rechecking is held out of search until a human has confirmed every figure against the issuing authority.
